Many of us feels that we still have a quite normal winter in Finland these days, but experience and looking at the statistics tell something different. Yes – we have had some snow…Yes – we have had some cold periods…Still it is not the same as it used to be. Somebody can think that I am not satisfied whatever winter brings, but I truly miss the large amounts of snow with longer cold periods. To be sure that you can enjoy snow and cold the upcoming weekend – that I really miss. Now we have to learn to live with insecureness of winter – will there be any snow, will there be any ice cover on the lake. The stastistic in whiter changes looks like the blade of a saw – going up and down constantly. As a wildlife photographer with 13 years of experience I can for sure say that things are changing and it is happening at a fast pace. More and more we have “allround weather” through the year and the amounts of heavy winds and storms are rising all the time. So please keep in mind when looking at these snowy pictures that they have been taken with love – love for snow.
